2009 A Year in Review

What an amazing year this has been.

I started the year here:

With them:

I had better seats than Oprah! What an amazing experience!

As far as reading goes, I read 45 books this year and didn’t finish 1. Not too bad for a mom of three, part-time librarian, PTA vice president and someone who suffered a reading road block late in the year. Hopefully I will do better next year. If not, I’m totally satisfied.

You never told me how you liked Enemy Woman. The first chapter made me sob like a baby (or, um, a nursing mother) and I haven't picked it up since. Worth it, now that I don't have a baby suckling at my breast?

I think it's great you left only one book unfinished. I've been in a bit of a slump lately, and have left THREE books unfinished: People of the Book, The Story of Edgar Sawtelle, and The Disagreement. There are probably others, but those are the ones that are sitting on my shelves, mocking me. I did finally drag myself through The Song of Humpback Whales, and can, with confidence, say I will probably never read Picoult again.

Thanks for the list. Now I will have a reference for a good book when I hit the library this year.

You really should read Omnivore's Dilemma before you come out here. We could even take a road trip out to the farm in Swope, if you're up to it. If not, I'll try to lay my hands on some eggs and chicken from there for you. Can't wait!

This is truly inspiring. Barbara Kingsolver will be presenting writers' workshops at the San Miguel Writers Conference in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico February 19-23 2010. I just signed up. It looks like a rare opportunity to meet her. Are you going?
